New Year's Day
Neujahr
- All 16 federal states
Statutory public holiday in all 16 federal states.
Germany does not use one identical public holiday schedule in every location. Start with the nationwide dates, then choose the Bundesland where you live, work, study, or travel to reveal the additional state and local entries that can affect your plans.

The full-year calendar compares nationwide and regional dates at a glance. Open a monthly image when you need larger date cells and concise guidance about the holidays that apply during that month.
Download full-year imageThe full-year image remains an all-Germany reference. The Bundesland selector filters the detailed holiday list and calendar download so local scope is not mistaken for a nationwide closure.

Use the country calendar download collection for printable layouts. Before printing a work or school planner, compare the marked dates with the selected Bundesland and any municipal rules that apply to your location.
Each holiday name appears once, with its German name, date, and geographic scope. Choose a Bundesland above to focus the list on dates relevant to that state; local entries remain clearly identified because they do not apply across the whole state.

Germany's 16 federal states set additional statutory holidays under their own laws. The counts below combine nationwide dates with the state-wide dates included in each ICS file; municipal and partial-state holidays are listed separately so they do not inflate a whole-state calendar.
These dates belong in every Germany public holiday calendar for 2027: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, German Unity Day, Christmas Day, and the Second Day of Christmas. Their dates are national, even when the practical value of a day off is reduced because the holiday falls on a weekend.
Regional schedules add holidays such as Epiphany, International Women's Day, Corpus Christi, World Children's Day, Reformation Day, All Saints' Day, and Repentance and Prayer Day. Check the selected state's calendar instead of assuming that a closure in Bavaria, Berlin, Saxony, or another Bundesland applies throughout Germany.
Germany generally keeps a statutory holiday on its calendar date. A Saturday or Sunday holiday does not automatically create a Monday substitute. Check the actual weekday before booking leave, arranging deliveries, or assuming that offices will close on an adjacent working day.
Under Germany's Continued Remuneration Act, an employee who loses working time because a statutory public holiday falls on a scheduled workday is generally entitled to the pay they would have received. The applicable holiday is determined by the place of work, and sector rules, collective agreements, or lawful Sunday and holiday work provisions may affect scheduling.
A Brückentag is a working day taken as leave between a public holiday and a weekend. Thursday holidays such as Ascension Day and Corpus Christi can create useful four-day breaks when Friday leave is available. Regional holidays only create that opportunity where the holiday is legally observed.
Download the nationwide calendar or choose one Bundesland. State files include Germany-wide and state-wide statutory dates; municipal and partial-state dates are excluded because their applicability depends on a city, district, or qualifying local rule.
9 nationwide dates are included in the All Germany ICS file. The calendar uses federal and state legal sources for nationwide, regional, and local scope. The 2027 dates follow the current statutory rules and calendar calculations; check official notices for any later legal amendment.
